Transitioning my diet

Christmas time was a breaking point for me.  I ate, I drank, I ate some more. After all the holiday craziness was said and done the scale and I were having a major confrontation. The months leading up to Christmas , plus the holiday grub and laziness had allowed me to gain back almost 20 of the 30 pounds I had shed the year prior. WHY?  Why was poutine, pizza, and any cheesy goodness calling my name? Why did I seem not to care about the consequences of stuffing my face day in and day out, knowing how hard it was to lose the weight in the first place? Thankfully , I chose to use this as my motivation. I rewatched the Joe cross juicing videos, I watched engine 2, and started immersing myself in vegan and wfpb  (whole food plant based ) Facebook groups. I needed to make a change. At 170 pounds, I wasn't feeling happy. I did a couple day juice fast to kick start the weight loss and then followed the e27dr  (engine 2  seven day rescue plan). I have NOT been 100 % compliant which is why the weight is falling off  slower . Weekdays I stick to fruits,  veggies, and grains. But my boyfriend and I always have a poutine date on the weekend, as well as drinks with friends...   But I'm still seeing improvement!! Old clothes that were once too small are starting to fit better. My regular pants are starting to fall off My hips when I walk, and My face feels slimmer; I feel brighter.  I'm writing all this here to hold myself accountable. I want to see all the changes I have made and the journey I have taken.  So I'm going to keep track of things I cook up, my weight progress, and how I'm feeling about my lifestyle change. Eventually I'd like to be 100 % vegan but I'm okay with transitioning slowly. It's my journey and I must make it at my own pace.
I am already so happy that I've made positive changes to my diet and seen great effects on my blood pressure and bloodwork numbers. I even shared what l have learned with my father and now he is completely off his blood pressure medication, has dropped weight, lessened his pain from ankylosing spondylitis, sleeps throughout the evening and has seen all bloodwork numbers improve.  I plan on being plant strong for life!

May wah inn

I remember the first time I ever had dim sum. it was at may wah inn with my very best friend janina. I remember the ladies coming  by with good on the carts, and the excitement of my friend choosing baskets if good for us to try.   The excitement was exhilarating.

Since it had been years since I had dim sum, my good turns brad and I decided we should a classic dim sum lunch.
We went to may wah inn , Windsor Ontario and asked for their dim sum lunch.,it was too late for Carr service but we were able to order off the menu.
There was so much to choose from but we chose a bit of everything.

Dumplings and rice rolls were delicious. I ordered a rice with spare ribs that was a generous  portion. The sticky rice that I remember loving , still tasted as delicious as I remember .
Plate by plate we ate, until we could no longer stuff out faces. We asked for the leftovers to be packaged and payed our bill, ( which was 40$ after taxes, drinks, & tip)  and left the restaurant with a full feeling in our bellies :)

Teriyaki experience

I was searching through the Yorkdale mall in Toronto ad could NOT for the life of me find anywhere to eat lunch. Thankfully my father asked a clerk for assistance and we were directed to the escalators that bring you to the third floor.
As you go up the escalator you start smelling delicious foods! There was a sushi place, Mexican, Indian, Mediterranean; as well as the usual Burger and sub joints.
We settled on a line that was not too long and had out lunch from 'teriyaki experience.'
I ordered a spicy beef udon noodle soup bowl, and my father followed suit.

The bowl of soup was enormous especially for 'food court' dining. We both added some extra teriyaki sauce as well as hot sauce. The broth was flavorful and had us both in a good sweat by the end. The meat was thin, tender, and extremely delicious.
The bill came to $16 which wasnt too bad for fancy mall food. It was extremely filling and we would definitely have the soup again!

Gamjatang!!

I finally made my way over to the Younge&Finch location of Nak Won. I had read plenty of reviews and knew that their pork bone soup had received great reviews. My banchan came and we were treated to several!  The potatoes were my favorite and were covered in a spicy honey sauce. My initial reaction was HOLY! I had so many pork bones in my soup, I even shared with my boyfriend. The meat fell off the bones and was so flavorful. I could not get enough of the broth it was garlicky , peppery, and pungent. After drink, taxes & tip out bill was only $20!! Gotta love cheap eats; I will definitely be going back!!
